C1: 27th January 2016

Good afternoon,

yesterday we continued talking about education, in particular, about online and face-to-face education. We did a reading task on this topic. The end of the class was devoted to one of the most controversial grammar topics: the use of definite, indefinite and zero article. I'm going to try and send you a summary handout because we didn't have time to cover all points.

Good evening!

Today we revised some of the grammar points and vocabulary covered over Units 3 and 4. We continued talking about time and how well we manage to wait for things to hapen. We did the Speaking and Listening parts on this subject that you can find on page 46. The last hour of the class was devoted to a Reading Comprehension mock exam.

Good morning,

Yesterday we were talking about studying abroad and about education in general. As I was feeling a bit fluey, you virtually made the whole class, which I thank you for :) We did some speaking practice, -monologue and interaction; and, at the end of the class, we watched a documentary about Edication in Finland. As I told you yesterday, I just sent you -via Zona de Usuarios- some docs with extra-vocabulary and information about the topic of Education.

Read texts p. 65 and do ex. 4-5 p. 64

I really hope I'm feeling better tomorrow and we can do a normal class before the exam period. Thank you for your undestanding!

2NA: Thursday 21st January 2016

Good evening and, once again, sorry for my delay...

On Thursday we started Unit 5A, which will be the last to see before the exam. We talked about multi-tasking and mindfulness reading some texts about these topics (p. 45). In the second part of the class we did a complete Listening exam, with three tasks. I'll give you the marks on Tuesday or as I see you.

Homework:
Revise and Check Units 3-4 pp. 42-43

On Tuesday we will continue with Unit 5A and we will do a Reading mock exam too. And don't remember to keep on revising! The exam is just round the corner!

Good afternoon,

yesterday we saw some expressions using numbers and we revised the different Future Forms that we have in English while we were talking about the city of the future. At the end of the class, we did a listening task on the topic of Clone Cities.

2NA: Tuesday 19th January 2016

Good afternoon (yes, it's 4pm so, let's call afternoon!)

Yesterday we were talking about the job of a translator. We did a Listening exercise,-on  p.41- on that subject and talked about how some Spanish words aren't traslatable into English. We also saw a new grammar point: the inversions after some adverbial phrases (you can find the explanation on p.147). The last minutes of the class were devoted to the sound /o: /

Good morning!

yesterday we summarized the different functions that the modals SHOULD, MUST(N`T), WILL and WOULD can imply (you have the grammar explained on pp.166-167). We started talking about cities and we read the text on p. 59. At the end of the class we did a listening task on the topic of cleaning up cities (outside book).

2NA: 14th January 2016

Good afternoon!

My apologies for my delay. My internet connection doesn't seem to work properly lately...

Last Thursday we revised how to write a book or fil review (pp. 116-117). We did a multiple choice listening task. Finally we were doing some speaking practice based on the topic of spoilers and reding in general.

Homework:
(For next Tuesday): p. 117 ex. d  / Reading p. 40 + p. 41 ex. e and Lexis in Context.
(For next Thursday): write a review about  book or film you liked or disliked.

Good afternoon!

My apologies for my delay. My internet connection doesn't seem to work properly lately...

Last Wednesday we revised something about extreme adjectives and we spoke about some of the worst inventions ever. We also did a listening task about "the story of aspirin". At the end end of the class, we saw some exclamations (p. 55 Speaking) to react more naturally to what you hear.

Tuesday 2nd February: Reading (70 minutes) and Listening (about 35 minutes)
Thursday 4th February: Writing (about 1 hour. In June it will be 90 minutes long)
Tuesday 9th / Thursday 11th: Speaking (about 15-20 minutes every two people)

The time for the Speaking exam will be chosen over the next weeks, writing your name on one of the lists that will be stuck on one of the classroom noticeboards.

Good morning and Happy New Year!

Yesterday we resumed our classes speaking about your Christmas break. We also started talking about books and films -Unit 4B- doing a Speaking and a Listening exercise. We saw some adjectives that you could used to talk about books and films -as well as in other contexts- and we did a quick revision of the difference between normal and extreme adjectives.
