On our last class, we revised some phrasal verbs related to phone conversations. We role-played both formal and informal telephone conversations. The second part of the class was devoted to a pub quiz to make our last class before Christmas a bit fun :)

2NA: 17th December 2015

Good morning everybody!

Last Thursday we revised the vocabulary we'd seen the previous class about the sounds and other verbs that hmans do. We had a look at some pronunciation problems we have when we have to pronounce 2 or 3 consonants sounds together. We talked about the five senses and prepared a little interaction about this topic. To finish with, we did a debating game in which you had to defend controversial points of view

Good morning everybody!

Yesterday we continued talking about Mobile Phones. From the book, we worked with the text on pages 42-43, seeing some phrasal verbs and collocations in context. Then, we did a listening about phone voice messages (p. 40) and we finished the class having a look at some more phrasals related to the topic we are dealing with.

Good morning everyone!

Yesterday we started talking/revising Relative Clauses. We'll continue tomorrow with the correction of the last two exercises from the worksheet. We also played a game of Taboo and started talking about Mobile Phones. At the end of the class, we did a speaking activity about controversial topics while you were defending points of view that you don't really believe.

C1: 9th December 2015

Hello! I'm so sorry for my delay but you know I've been very busy these days :(

On Wednesday we rehearsed different job interviews. Some of you were even chosen for a new job!! ;) We also did a Listening Task on the same topic. At the end of the class, you did a mock Reading exam, -which actually went really well!!!-.

2NA: 3rd December 2015

Good morning everybody,

yesterday we finihed Unit 3. We checked some vocabulary about Conflict and Warfare (p.163), saw different discourse markers (p.145) and spoke about memorable film scenes. We also discussed about history doing a couple of Listening tasks (p.32 Part 2 and p.33 In the Street).

Homework:
Discourse Markers worksheet (on Zona de Usuarios)
Write a summary (120-150 words) of a memorable scene of any film/series. (Deadline: Thursday, 10th):
  • Write a brief introductio of the film
  • Explain what happens in the scene
  • Say what made the scene memorable for you

yesterday we revised how to write Letters of Aplication (or Covering Letters). You can find the worksheet on which we based the class on the Zona de Usuarios. We also did a mock Listening Test.

Good afternoon,

yesterday we saw some common mistakes you made in your last Writing. We saw the differece between especially and specially and revised some basics about the order of the words in questions and statements. We reviewed some general vocabulary about Cinema and did a speaking activity about this topic. From the book, we did page 30 and, at the end of the class, we did a couple if Listening tasks based on the audios on page 31.

C1: 30th November 2015

Good morning!

yesterday we started a series of 3 sessions devoted to the topic of Work. We saw some vocabulary about the topic and we discussed about ideal jobs (page 34). Towards the end of the class, we did a challenging listening exercise about the company Skyscanner.

Reading p. 35 and do ex. Reading 2 on p. 34 (and write a line summarizing paragraphs 4 and 5)

2NA: 25th November 2015

Good evening and sorry for the delay in the update but I'm taking the weekend a bit easy so as not to get sick again.

Last Thursday, we consolidated the different structures we've been seeing about the verb GET. We did a speaking activity based on the questionnaire on page 27 and we did a couple of challenging listening activities.

Good morning everybody,

yesterday we had a short session in the laboratory practising the part of the interaction. We talked about the "generation gap". We had a look at how to write an article -page114- on a similar topic. Finally, we did the Listening Comprehension on page 26.

Good morning!

Yesterday we revised the different uses of some English Modal and Semi-modal Verbs. We did the grammar activities on p. 30 and then were practising deduction and speculation. Towards the end of the class, we did a Listening on the topic of "Fire Drill". As usual, I've sent you a message through our Zona de Usuarios with the worksheets we've used (plus one extra) and links to listen to the audios.

Good morning, sorry I'm late!

On Tuesday we revised the Grammar and Vocabulary seen in Units 1 and 2. We started Unit 3, doing the Reading on pp. 24-25. We started having a look at the diferent uses of my favourite verb in English: GET. We'll continue today.

C1: 16th November 2015

Good afternoon and sorry for my delay!

yesterday we started talking about giving instructions and giving advice in English. We revised the structures that we use (imperative, might, must...). We talked a bit about 'how-to' books and we did an exam-based Listening on the topic of 'how to be a good host and guest' and, eventually, saw some homophones and homographs. A bit of everything, as you can see ;)

Good morning!

Yesterday we finished Unit 2B having a look at how we form abstract nouns -page 20-. We were also listening and talking about our earliest memories in life so we could get extra practice of narrative tenses (page 21).

Good morning everybody!

I really hope you're recovered from yesterday's class :) Indeed, we had one of those grammar-based lessons everybody hates -included me-, which are at the same time necessary. We had a look at the way we wish, regret and express preferences, using expressions like I wish..., If only..., I'd rather... and I'd prefer... You have the grammar explanation on page 163. We also did a Listening Comprehension on the topic of bullying.

Finish Grammar worksheet (I'll upload it tomorrow to our Zona de Usuarios, together with the rest of activities we've done this week).

2NA: 10th November 2015

Hello!
Yesterday we revised the use of English Pronouns (object, reflexive, reciprocal, there/it...). You can find a brief explanation on page 142. We did both, a Listening and a Reading, of the texts about Roald Dahl (pages 18-19) and briefly explained the difference between "used to" and "would" -when used as Past Tense-, and the rest of the narrative tenses. Then, we put them into practice speaking about habits in the past and anecdotes (page 19).

Good morning,

yesterday we had a look at the most common mistakes you made in the first writing. We revised some of the vocabulary and grammar mistakes you shouldn't be making at this stage (especially / specially; as / like). Then, we started Unit 3. We did the Speaking part on page 22 and the Listening on page 24. Finally, we saw some fixed phrases (page 25 ex. 4)

2NA: 3rd November 2015

Good morning!

Yesterday we visited the language laboratory for the first time this course. There we rehearsed a monologue and we did a challenging listening task, similar to the ones you may find in the exam. This exam-based kind of tasks are the ones we will do in the lab. I really hope you enjoyed the experience. We also started unit 2A (page 14).

Read text on page 15 and do the vocabulary activity I just sent you through our Zona de Usuarios.
Do p. 15 ex. 3a (Pronunciation). I'll explain the rules in class tomorrow.

2NA: 29th October

Good morning!

Last Thursday, we were practising linkers in detail. You have all the grammar about these four types of linkers on page 141. We also did the Listening exercise on page 13 (In the Street).

Good morning everybody,

yesterday we went to the laboratory to practice monologues. we did one about Culture Shock and we also took advantage of the lab to do the Listening Comprehension task on page 13. We started talking about our next topic, which is going to Living Life to the Full.

Good afternoon everybody and sorry for my delay!!!

Yesterday we had a look at the Conditional structures that you already knew, but we also saw some new structures and conjunctions to use. You have everything explained on page 162. We also did a Listening task based on the topic of Culture Shock and spoke a bit about this topic. We'll continue with that tomorrow.

Read the text on page 12 and do the exercie Vocabulary 2 on page 13.
Do the Conditionals worksheet I handed out yesterday (sorry I can't upload it to the Zona de Usuarios as I deleted it by mistake. I'll try to do it by the end of this week).

Write a reply to the article "5 things I hate about Spain". You can send it to me by e-mail or you can give it to me in class. Deadline: next Wednesday 28th.

Good morning!

yesterday we had a very quick look at the Vocabulary and Grammar covered in 1º Avanzado through the Entry Test that I'd sent you for homework. We were talking about your personality and you could get to know your classmates a bit better. We also had the chance to know an organisation called "Talk to me London". We did a couple of listenings about it and discussed a bit about the "art of having a conversation" with strangers.

Good morning everybody,

yesterday we could get to know each other a bit better. You were asking each other questions and we had the chance to know an organisation called "Talk to me London". We did a couple of listenings about it and discussed a bit about the art of having a conversation with strangers. At the end of the class, I gave you a list with lots of adjectives to describe your personality.
